GATE is a national level examination that primarily assesses the comprehensive understanding of several undergraduate subjects in Technology/Engineering/Science/Architecture/Commerce/Humanities/Arts. The GATE 2026 exam will be organized by IIT Roorkee. The exam will be conducted by IISc Bengaluru along with seven IITs (IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MOE), and Government of India (GOI).
Lately, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the concerned authority, has postponed the release date of the GATE 2026 Admit Card due to administrative reasons. The GATE 2026 admit card was earlier anticipated to be released on January 2, 2026, but has been delayed. A new release date is expected to be announced shortly. Hence, aspirants will be able to access the admit card from the official website of IIT Guwahati gate2026.iitg.ac.in/.
GATE Admit Card According Latest Update
It is significant to know that the GATE 2026 admit card has not been released yet. It functions as a hall ticket and allows entrance into the examination centre. The aspirants are not allowed to appear for the exam, in case they forget to carry the admit card.
Once released, aspirants will be able to download it cautiously and verify all details mentioned on it, like name, exam date, registration number, and exam centre. As the admit card release has been postponed, aspirants must stay calm and focus on the preparation for the GATE 2026 exam. As the exam is approaching, it is the appropriate time to revise significant topics and practice previous year’s questions.
GATE 2026 Exam Date
GATE 2026 exam will be administered by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati on first and second weekends of February 2026, namely on 7th,8th,14th and 15th Feburary 2026. The entrance will take place in two slots- 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30pm to 5:30 pm. The aspirants appearing must download their GATE exam admit card 2026 once it releases and keep it safe. The aspirants must carry their hall ticket, a valid ID proof, and a pen/pencil at the time of examination.

Procedure to download the GATE 2026 Admit Card
The aspirants must keep on checking the GATE admit card IIT update. As soon as the revised date becomes live on the GOAPS portal, the steps stated below should be followed to secure hall ticket:

Log in and click “GATE 2026 Admit Card” link and enter your enrollment ID/Email and password.

Confirm by checking name, paper code, and exam centre address cautiously.

The admit card can be downloaded and save as a PDF and taken a colored print out and carry along with you on the exam day.
