UGC NET December Cycle 2026-27: Important Highlights

The official UGC NET 2026 December notification was released around 7 October, 2026. UGC NET 2026 December has been scheduled to be held between 31 December and 7 January 2026. The UGC NET exam date has been scheduled for 85 subjects as released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This national level exam decides the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professorship posts in Indian colleges and universities.

Shift Details (Morning / Afternoon): 

The UGC NET December 2026 exam operates from December 31, 2026, to January 7, 2026, in two shifts: morning shift (shift 1) is 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The afternoon shift starts at 3:00 PM to 6:00 pm with precise subjects assigned to several dates and shifts. 

Key Shift Timings:

  • Shift 1 (Morning): 09:00 AM 12:00 PM 

  • Shift 2 (Afternoon/Evening): 03:00 PM 06:00 PM

UGC NET 2026-27 Exam Documents Required

For the UGC NET 2026 exam, a candidate requires a printed admit card, an authentic photo ID such as a Passport, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, DL, PAN, a passport-size photo (same as the application), and a blue/black ball pen. For the application, a candidate requires a scanned photo/ signature along with educational/category documents. A candidate must remember to carry these must-have items to the exam center in order to have a smooth entry and verification.

  • Scanned photo and signature in JPG/JPEG format with precise size limits.

  • Educational details like degree certificates and mark sheets.

  • Category/EWS Certificate in case it's applicable.
